Homemade Mango Salsa

Homemade Mango Salsa

My aunt made a homemade mango salsa recipe and she brought it to our house for a barbeque one night and I absolutely fell in love with it. It was made with such fresh ingredients and you can put it on absolutely anything. First we had it as an appetizer with tortilla chips, but then we had leftover so we put it on top of grilled chicken for dinner and I could not get enough of it. I love it so much because you can literally put it on everything and it takes the dish to the next level.

Mangos are one of my all-time favorite fruits but I never really liked mango salsa. I only had ever had mango salsa that was store bought and prepackaged, and I really never like the taste of it. Now that I have tried this version of mango salsa with such simple and fresh ingredients, I will never go back to store bought.

I definitely think this is going to become a recipe that I incorporate on a more regular basis. It would be so delicious to add to Asian dishes, tacos, bowls, or just as a snack or an appetizer. I am definitely going to be bringing this to family and friends houses, because I know this is going to be a fan favorite recipe for sure.

Once I tried my aunts homemade mango salsa I knew I had to try a recipe out myself! I decided to make this recipe with just one mango and it does make a good amount of salsa, but if you were going to bring it to someone’s house as an appetizer or what not I would definitely recommend doubling the recipe. Maybe even triple it because it is that delicious.

I am dying to make this recipe with fish tacos- such a delicious and summery meal! I know for a fact that I will be making this all summer long! Also this recipe takes a max of 5 minutes to prepare and you can eat it right away but I prefer it chilled in the refrigerator for a little while. It is seriously one of the easiest recipes I have shared on here.

In this picture I paired the mango salsa with Late July Jalapeño Lime chips which is one of my favorite chip brands, I highly recommend them!

  • 1 large mango
  • ½ red onion
  • Huge handful of cilantro
  • 1 whole lime (optional)
  • Salt
  • Optional: jalapeno

  1. Start by peeling and dicing the mango super small
  2. Then dice half of a red onion in super small pieces and add it to the bowl with the mango
  3. Next take a huge handful of cilantro and use a scissor to chop slice it super thin
  4. Next add the juice of 1 fresh lime
  5. Lastly, add a pinch of salt and stir all together
